The county of champions was formally recognized Monday afternoon at the California State Capitol in Sacramento. Sonora and Summerville high schools each had their football teams honored for winning respective CIF state championships in December. Assemblyman David Tangipa, R-Clovis, presented the Bears and Wildcats during a California Assembly session to start the week.
