Fresno Mayor Reacts to Trump’s Calls to Investigate High-Speed Rail

On the state level, Trump’s concerns are in line with many republican lawmakers in Sacramento. State Assemblymember David Tangipa agreed with President Trump’s concerns. This week he introduced Assembly Bill 377, which calls on the California High-Speed Rail Authority to provide a detailed funding plan, specifically for the portion of the project between Bakersfield and Merced.

“My bill is to demand a financial plan. The way that I’ve looked at high-speed rail, it looks like they started building the basement before they even finished the plans for the 35th floor on a 100-foot skyscraper. That doesn’t make any sense,” Tangipa said.
