FRESNO – Assemblyman Jim Patterson has selected Fresno-based nonprofit PAIN (Parents & Addicts In Need) as the 2021 Nonprofit of the Year.
“The Opioid and Fentanyl crisis continues to have a grip on our community,” said Assemblyman Patterson. “There are sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, moms and dads, whose lives were cut short because of accidental overdoses. I am grateful for PAIN and their never-ending mission to spread the word to anyone who will listen”
PAIN was founded in 2009 and provides rehabilitation services at their sober living facility in Fresno and offers ongoing support for substance abusers and their families. Founder and President Flindt Andersen and his staff have traveled throughout California to provide outreach to at-risk communities through local media, schools, churches and community events about addiction and substance abuse.
To help combat the Fentanyl epidemic, PAIN also offers free weekly Narcan training classes. They also offer this service to employees at local businesses. Narcan is used to save the life of someone during an opioid overdose.
